Two Layers: PVC Shell, Urethane AIREcells
AIRE designs, builds and supports its boats in Meridian, Idaho. Each raft pairs a PVC outer shell, made for AIRE by Ferrari Textiles, with separate internal urethane air chambers called AIREcells. Piano hinge floor lacing drains water fast and lets your crew place thwarts where they need them.

AIRE FAQ
-
Who makes AIRE rafts?
AIRE is an employee-owned raft maker in Meridian, Idaho. AIRE says every boat is designed, built and supported there, and its outer PVC shell is made exclusively for AIRE by Ferrari Textiles. Tributary is AIRE's separate value line of rafts and inflatable kayaks.
-
What is an AIREcell?
An AIREcell is AIRE's internal air chamber, separate from the PVC outer shell. On the rafts we carry it is a urethane bladder inside 1670 denier PVC. A hole in the bladder can be patched with Tear-Aid Type A tape, and a tear in the shell can be stitched, both with the AIRE repair kit.
-
Which AIRE Puma raft should I buy?
The Puma (11 ft 6 in) paddles 2-4 people or rows two with light gear and fits smaller rivers and creeks. The Super Puma (13 ft 1 in) seats five paddlers plus a guide, and the Super Duper Puma (14 ft 2 in) holds eight paddlers. For two or three paddlers, the 10 ft 5 in Cub is the smallest.
-
Are AIRE rafts rescue certified?
No. AIRE builds the Puma and Cub as whitewater rafts and does not list a rescue or NFPA rating for them. Swiftwater and flood teams can run them as paddle boats, but train your crew on the boat before you rely on it on a call.
-
What is the difference between the AIRE Summit 1 and Summit 2 valves?
Both are two-piece, one-way valves for AIRE Tributary boats. The Summit 1 was used on 2003-2004 Tomcat and 2004-2006 Strike inflatable kayaks. The Summit 2 replaced it, has a blue ring inside and no valve stem bridge; caps and adapters for the two are not interchangeable.
-
How do I repair an AIRE raft in the field?
The AIRE Inflatable Boat Repair Kit carries no flammable adhesive. Tear-Aid Type A tape patches holes in the urethane bladder, and unless it is a large tear that can be a permanent repair. Use the needle and thread to close tears in the PVC shell; for bigger jobs, AIRE PVC Raft Material is sold by the foot.

-
What is the warranty on AIRE rafts?
AIRE publishes a ten-year no-fault warranty for retail customers and a five-year no-fault warranty for commercial use on AIRE rafts, covering defects and accidental damage from normal use. Tributary boats carry shorter limited warranties, and cosmetic wear, UV damage and misuse are not covered. The Public Safety Store is an authorized AIRE dealer: send us your order number and we'll help with a claim.
