The Leatherhead Bar
Leatherhead drop forges its Halligan-type bar in the U.S.A. from high-carbon steel and tests every bar from pick to fork before it ships. It arrives tuned, with reference lines on the forks and adz for setting the tool, squared shoulders and thin forks for tight doors, and a flatter, smooth-faced adz.

Leatherhead Tools FAQ
-
Who makes Leatherhead Tools?
Leatherhead Tools is the fire and rescue line of Dasco Pro, a hand tool maker since 1922 and one of the few hand tool forging companies left in the United States. Dasco developed the line in 2007 with firefighters near Rockford, Illinois. The name honors the leather helmets worn by firefighters.
-
Are Leatherhead Tools made in the U.S.A.?
Yes. Leatherhead says its tools are made in America by tradesmen using high-carbon U.S. steel and traditional forging methods. The Halligan bar is 100% drop forged in the U.S.A.
-
What length Halligan should I carry?
The 30 in. bar is the middle length. The 24 in. bar is compact for tight compartments and vehicle work, and the 36 in. bar gives the most leverage. All three are drop forged, zinc coated and have a one-inch fork spread for through-the-lock entry.
-
How does the Ultra-Force axe marry to a Halligan?
The Ultra-Force axe has a Leatherhead Lock groove on the handle side. It holds a Halligan so you can carry a set of irons in one hand, and the top side of the lock fits the Halligan's forks for added leverage. It comes in one weight, 8 lb.
-
What is the difference between the Dog Bone and Pro-Lite pike poles?
The Dog Bone I-Beam has a solid-core fiberglass handle for strength. The Pro-Lite uses a hollow fiberglass handle to save weight. Both have Hi-Viz color, reflective striping and a choice of American, drywall or rubbish heads with a butt end or D-handle.
