Questions about the Men's Explorer Semi-Dry Suit
Is a semi-dry suit waterproof?
The Eclipse fabric is waterproof and breathable, but the neoprene GlideSkin neck seal is not a latex gasket. It cinches to keep most water out, so expect some water at the neck in a swim. For long immersion or high-consequence water, choose a full dry suit with a latex neck gasket.
Who is a semi-dry suit for?
NRS recommends semi-dry suits for flat-water kayakers, stand-up paddlers and canoeists, and for rafters on moderate rivers with low consequences. Crews who expect to swim in fast or cold water should look at a full dry suit.
Does the Explorer have built-in socks and a relief zipper?
Yes. It has Eclipse fabric socks taped at the toe and heel, and a TIZIP relief zipper with a protective flap.
How do I choose a size?
Start with your height on the chart, then check chest, waist and hip. The sock column shows which men's US shoe sizes the built-in socks fit.
Is the Explorer Semi-Dry Suit flame resistant?
No. It is water rescue and paddling gear. It is not flame resistant, is not structural firefighting PPE and is not NFPA 1971 certified, so keep it off the fireground and away from high heat.
