Questions about the Kids' Shorty Wetsuit
How do I pick a size for my child?
Use height and weight. For example, Y-S fits about 4'0" to 4'2" and 60–70 lbs, and Y-M fits about 4'2" to 4'4" and 65–75 lbs. The 3T and 4T sizes cover toddlers from 33 to 40 lbs.
Does the wetsuit replace a life jacket?
No. The closed-cell neoprene adds some flotation and helps a child float higher while wearing a life jacket, but a properly fitted PFD is still required.
Can my child unzip it by themselves?
The heavy-duty YKK zipper is on the back, which makes entry and exit easy for an adult helping and keeps a child from unzipping it by accident.
How thick is it?
The suit is 2.5 mm neoprene with titanium in the adhesive layer to help hold in body heat.
Is the Kids' Shorty Wetsuit flame resistant or rated for firefighting?
No. The Kids' Shorty Wetsuit is a neoprene wetsuit for water rescue and paddling. It is not flame resistant, is not structural firefighting PPE and is not NFPA 1971 certified.
