Questions about the barrel pump piston
How do I replace the piston?
Saw through the pump shaft with a hacksaw just above the damaged piston, then glue the new piston onto the shaft with PVC pipe cement. Make sure the shaft goes through the pump's top cap before you glue on the new piston.
Will I lose any pumping volume?
If you glue the new piston to the existing, shortened shaft, you lose a bit of pumping volume. To avoid that, also replace the shaft with the NRS Barrel Pump Handle and Shaft.
Is the gasket included?
No. The piston does not come with the pump gasket; order the NRS 5 inch Barrel Pump O-Ring Gasket separately.
What glue do I need?
A can of PVC pipe cement, available at most home improvement or hardware stores. Questions about the repair? Contact us.
Is the piston rated for fire or high heat?
No. It is a pump or boat part, not protective equipment. It is not flame resistant and is not rated for fire or high-heat use.
