Questions about the barrel pump check valve
Do I need a new corner hose adapter?
Yes. The threaded end of the check valve is glued to the outside corner hose adapter that the hose attaches to. Use the Round Corner Hose Adapter for pumps made prior to 2010 and the Square Corner Hose Adapter for newer pumps.
How do I remove the old check valve?
Saw through the corner hose adapter with a hacksaw as close to the pump body as possible, then break off the rest of the adapter with a flat blade screwdriver or chisel and a hammer. That frees the check valve.
How do I install the new one?
NRS recommends coating the check valve threads with PVC cement before installing the valve and new adapter, so it does not unscrew with use.
