Majestic PRO-X2 Proximity Hood
This is the full-coverage PRO-X2 proximity hood with Majestic Fire Ink and embroidered designs, including flags, red line and pike axe flags, the Punisher red line, a pink ribbon, a shamrock, a Celtic shamrock and a skull.
Majestic knits and sews its hoods in-house, and lists every PRO-X hood as UL certified to NFPA 1970-2025 for proximity firefighting. That is the current edition of the standard, which replaced NFPA 1971-2018.
Proximity hood, not a structural particulate hood.
Proximity hoods are certified for high radiant-heat work. Majestic says they can also be worn for exterior and non-structural operations where interior structural entry is not required. Is the Majestic PRO-X2 hood NFPA 1970 certified?
Yes. Majestic lists the PRO-X2 as UL certified to NFPA 1970-2025 for proximity firefighting.
Can I wear a proximity hood for interior structural firefighting?
NFPA 1970-2025 requires every structural firefighting hood to have a particulate-blocking barrier. Proximity hoods are certified separately and are not required to have one. Majestic says PRO-X hoods are for proximity firefighting and can also be worn for exterior and non-structural operations where interior structural entry is not required. For interior structural firefighting, choose a particulate hood certified to NFPA 1970, such as the Majestic FORTEX.
What is proximity firefighting?
Proximity firefighting means operating close to fires that give off high levels of radiant heat, such as aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF), flammable liquid and gas fires, and some industrial fires. Proximity gear is built to handle that radiant heat.
What size is the PRO-X2?
Majestic makes every PRO-X hood in universal sizing, so there is no size to pick.
What is the difference between PRO-X1, PRO-X2, PRO-X2-23 and the Instructor?
The PRO-X1 is 18 inches long with a low-bulk notched shoulder. The PRO-X2 is 21 inches long with a long notched shoulder bib. The PRO-X2-23 is 23 inches long with an expanded chest bib. The PRO-X2 Instructor is 21 inches long with a 3-layer head for high-heat training.
