Gear Aid Repair & Care for Dry Suits

Aquaseal, Seam Grip and Tenacious Tape to fix gaskets, seams and tears, plus Revivex cleaners and zipper care to keep rescue suits in service.

For water rescue and dive teams

Fix the Gasket, Not the Whole Suit

Aquaseal FD is the adhesive many teams use to glue in new latex gaskets and seal holes in dry suits. On its own it cures overnight. Mix in Gear Aid Cure Accelerator and Cleaner at 1 part to 3-4 parts adhesive and it reaches tack in about 15 minutes and full cure in two hours or less, so a repaired suit can go back on the rig the same shift.

Gear Aid FAQ

  • Who makes Gear Aid products?

Gear Aid is based in Bellingham, Washington. It makes repair products, cleaners and conditioners, and tools for outdoor and water gear, from outerwear to dive gear, with the goal of helping people fix what is broken instead of throwing it out. Its best-known products include Aquaseal, Seam Grip, Tenacious Tape and Revivex.

  • What do I use to glue a new gasket on a dry suit?

Aquaseal FD and Seam Grip WP are both urethane adhesives used to glue in latex gaskets. Aquaseal FD cures overnight on its own. Add the Cure Accelerator and Cleaner to get a full cure in about two hours, or buy the Aquaseal FD and Cure Accelerator kit, which includes both and a brush.

  • How do I fix a tear in a wetsuit?

For a quick fix, Aquaseal+NEO contact cement bonds neoprene and cures in about 10 minutes. For a patch that stretches with the suit, use the Tenacious Tape Iron-On Neoprene Patch with a regular clothes iron on medium heat. It also reinforces elbows, knees and underarms.

  • How should we clean dry suits and wetsuits between calls?

Wash wetsuits and dry suits with Revivex Wet and Dry Suit Shampoo to remove odor-causing bacteria and neutralize chlorine and salt. Use Revivex Pro Cleaner on waterproof-breathable dry wear to remove dirt, smoke and oils, then restore water beading with Revivex DWR spray. For lingering smells, the Revivex Odor Eliminator works by spray, soak or washing machine.

  • How do I keep a dry suit zipper from sticking?

Clean the zipper regularly with the Gear Aid Zipper Cleaner and Lubricant, whose brush top scrubs out dirt, sand and salt and leaves a protective film. Between cleanings, rub the soft-wax Zipper Lubricant Stick along the teeth to keep them moving and protect against salt and corrosion.

  • How do I care for latex gaskets and O-rings?

Gear Aid Silicone Grease is 100% food-grade silicone that conditions latex gaskets and O-rings in dive gear, cameras and lights. The water-based Silicone Protectant Pump Spray conditions wetsuits, neoprene and rubber gaskets and helps fend off salt, rust and corrosion.

  • Where can I buy Gear Aid?
