Questions about the NRS Titanium Pilot Knife
What is the difference between the Pilot and the Titanium Pilot?
Both share the same 7.25 inch overall length, 3.6 inch blade, Thumbs Up Sheath and valve wrench. The Titanium Pilot uses a titanium alloy blade that resists corrosion in salt and brackish water and brings total weight down to 3 oz, compared with 4.4 oz for the stainless Pilot.
Is it good for saltwater rescue?
Yes. The corrosion-resistant titanium blade makes it suitable for any type of water, including salt and brackish water.
How does it mount to my PFD?
The Thumbs Up Sheath attaches firmly to a PFD lash tab, and a lanyard attachment point on the handle adds a backup.
Can I get a replacement sheath?
Yes. The NRS Pilot Sheath Replacement fits the Titanium Pilot as well as the Pilot and Pilot SAR knives.
Is the Titanium Pilot Knife rated for fire or high heat?
No. It is a water rescue knife, not structural firefighting PPE, and it is not flame resistant, not NFPA 1971 certified and not rated for fire or high-heat use.
