Questions about the Rescue PFD Leg Straps
Which PFDs do these leg straps fit?
They are made for the NRS Rapid Rescuer and Rapid Responder rescue PFDs. They may also fit other life jackets that have strap loops or sleeves designed for leg straps.
Why add leg straps to a rescue PFD?
Leg straps keep the PFD from riding up in whitewater or when a rescuer is pulled back into a boat, which helps the vest stay in position when it matters.
Do leg straps make up for a loose PFD?
No. Leg straps are an extra safety measure, not a substitute for a properly fitted life jacket. Size and adjust the PFD correctly first.
How long are the straps?
Each strap is 45 inches long and 1/2 inch wide, and they come as a pair.
Is it flame resistant or rated for fire use?
No. It is water rescue gear and is not rated for fire or high-heat use. It is not structural firefighting PPE and is not NFPA 1971 certified.
