Description:
For missions that need a big crew, a lot of gear or both. The NRS R140 Rescue Raft is large and stable enough for the roughest water, yet it stays agile with a paddle crew or an oarsman (NRS item 86096.01). It carries eight paddlers, or it can be rigged with a rowing frame and a motor mount for an outboard. Compare it with our other rescue boats and boards.
Features
- Welded advanced-formula PVC: seam-welded construction for abrasion resistance, long life and air retention.
- Rigid drop-stitch floor and thwarts: a 4" floor insert and 7.75" x 10.5" thwarts inflate to 8-10 psi for stiff, responsive handling.
- Pressure relief valve on every chamber: keep the raft inflated without worrying about blown baffles.
- Built to be lowered: floor slots and D-ring placement let you run webbing through to suspend and lower the raft.
- Foot cups and interior handles: eight foot cups are included to anchor crew members in rough water.
- Removable thwarts: the Batten Attachment Thwart system makes thwarts easy to take out.
- 22 D-rings and 16 handles: plenty of tie-down and carry points for gear and portages.
- High visibility: reflective patches, hi-vis fabric and logos alert victims and the public to your mission.

Questions about the R140 Rescue Raft
How many people does the R140 hold?
It accommodates eight paddlers. You can also rig it with a rowing frame and a motor mount for an outboard.
How does the R140 compare with the R120 and R130?
It is the largest of the three: 14' 1" long and 7' 3" wide with 22" tubes, versus 18" tubes on the R120 and R130. That extra size adds stability and room for crew and gear.
What frame fits the R140?
NRS suggests a 66 inch frame width, with a maximum frame length of 83 inches. The center compartment is 43 inches wide.
What comes with the R140?
An NRS Super 2 high-pressure pump, eight foot cups and a repair kit. It carries a 3-year warranty.
Is it flame resistant or rated for fire use?
No. It is a water rescue boat made of PVC. It is not flame resistant, is not structural firefighting equipment and is not NFPA 1971 certified, so keep it away from fire and high heat.
