To replace a valve fully, the inner portion comes out and a new one goes in; this patch makes that job clean. It is a smart spare for rescue teams that service their own boats. What is the doughnut patch for?
Replacing the valve in an inflatable boat made of Hypalon or another synthetic rubber-coated material. The old inner valve portion is removed and the new one is installed through the patch.
What adhesive should I use?
This is an air-holding patch, so NRS strongly recommends Clifton Hypalon Adhesive combined with Clifton Hypalon Accelerator, the same combination NRS uses to build its Pennel Orca inflatables.
How big is it?
The patch is 8 3/8 inches in diameter with a 1 1/4 inch inner hole, and weighs 0.7 oz.
Is the Pennel Orca Doughnut Patch flame resistant?
No. The Pennel Orca Doughnut Patch is boat repair and rigging gear for water rescue teams. It is not flame resistant, is not PPE and is not rated for fire or high-heat use.
My boat is not Hypalon. Will this work?
NRS advises making your own doughnut patch from your boat's material and using the matching adhesive. If you are not sure what you have, contact us.
