The NRS Men's Stratos Paddling Jacket (NRS item 20038.03) combines waterproof, breathable HyproTex 2.5 with a soft neoprene neck, latex wrist gaskets and a double tunnel. Questions about the Stratos jacket
Is the Stratos a dry top?
It sits between splashwear and a dry top. The latex wrist gaskets and double tunnel are dry-top features, but the neoprene neck keeps most water out rather than sealing completely. For full immersion in cold water, choose a dry top with a latex neck or a full dry suit.
Is the Stratos waterproof?
Yes. HyproTex 2.5 is waterproof and breathable and the seams are factory-taped. Water can get past the neoprene neck seal during a swim.
How do I choose a size?
Use chest and sleeve length. A size L fits a 42–45 inch chest with a 34 inch sleeve; leave room if you layer fleece underneath.
Is the Stratos flame resistant?
No. The Stratos is water rescue and paddling gear. It is not flame resistant, is not structural firefighting PPE and is not NFPA 1971 certified, so keep it away from fire and high heat.
Will it seal with my sprayskirt?
Yes. The coated nylon inner tunnel mates with your sprayskirt, and the neoprene outer waist cinches tight with a double-pull hook-and-loop closure.
