Questions about the NYCO FR combat shirt
Is this combat shirt flame resistant?
It is sold as a NYCO FR fire retardant combat shirt. The chest and back are a no-melt, drip-resistant fabric that withstands temperatures up to 230°F, and the sleeves are nylon/cotton rip-stop. No NFPA or other certification standard is named, so it is not firefighting turnout gear or certified PPE.
Why wear a combat shirt instead of a regular shirt?
The lightweight wicking torso is meant to sit under body armor where a heavy shirt would trap heat, while the tougher rip-stop sleeves stay exposed and take the wear.
Can I put patches on it?
Yes. The sleeve pockets have a glint tape holder and a loop field for name, rank and flag patches.
How does it fit at the neck and cuffs?
It has a mock turtleneck for a secure fit and hook and loop cuffs you can tighten.
