Questions about the FR baselayer short sleeve tee
Is the Propper FR baselayer flame resistant?
Yes. It is made of inherent flame-resistant fabric that will not wash out, meets ASTM F1506 and carries a PPE Category 1 arc rating (ATPV) of 6.0 cal/cm². Propper does not list an NFPA certification, so it is a base layer for under protective workwear, not turnout gear or a substitute for PPE.
Will the flame resistance wash out?
No. The fabric is inherently flame resistant, so the protection stays effective through repeated wear and laundering.
Can I wear it under turnout gear or other PPE?
It is designed to layer under protective workwear without adding bulk. Always follow your department or employer's PPE requirements.
How does it compare to the long sleeve version?
Both use the same 5.6 oz inherent FR fabric with the same CAT 1, 6.0 cal/cm² rating. The long sleeve adds arm coverage; the short sleeve is cooler in warm weather. See all Propper wildland and FR clothing.
