Description:
Mid-weight neoprene warmth when the season turns. The NRS Men's HydroSkin 1.0 Shirt (NRS item 15032.05) steps up from the 0.5 line with a 1 mm raw neoprene core for more insulation as water and air temperatures drop. Pair it with HydroSkin pants, splash pants or shorts for swiftwater training, flood response and guide work in place of a shorty wetsuit. See more dry suit base layers.
Features
- Nylon-spandex outer face: sheds water and stretches with every reach, pull and paddle stroke.
- Smooth, hydrophobic lining: feels soft against bare skin and does not soak up water.
- 1 mm raw neoprene chest and back panel: cuts evaporative cooling and adds insulation over the core.
- Nylon-spandex arms and shoulders: stretch freely and hold less water.
- Form fit: limits water flushing in, which helps the neoprene insulate.
- Paddler-specific cut with friction-free, flat-lock stitched seams: for comfort and free movement during long shifts on the water.

Questions about the HydroSkin 1.0 Shirt
How is the HydroSkin 1.0 Shirt different from the 0.5 shirts?
It uses 1 mm neoprene instead of 0.5 mm, with a raw neoprene chest and back panel that reduces evaporative cooling. That makes it a mid-weight layer with more insulation over the core.
What is raw neoprene?
On this shirt the chest and back panel have exposed neoprene on the outside rather than a fabric face. It sheds water and cuts the cooling effect of wind on wet fabric; the arms and shoulders keep a stretch nylon-spandex face for movement.
How do I choose a size?
Match your chest, waist and hip measurements to the chart. A size L fits a 42–45 inch chest with a 33 inch sleeve.
What does it pair with?
NRS suggests HydroSkin pants, splash pants or board shorts in place of a shorty wetsuit. See more water rescue PPE.
Is the HydroSkin 1.0 Shirt flame resistant?
No. It is water rescue and paddling apparel made from neoprene and nylon-spandex. It is not flame resistant, is not structural firefighting PPE and is not NFPA 1971 certified, so keep it away from fire and high heat.
