Commercial grade 4 inch and 6 inch barrel pumps for inflating rescue rafts, plus the hoses and O-rings to rebuild them.

For swiftwater and flood teams

Blue Hose or Green Hose?

The hose color tells you which parts fit your Carlson pump. Pumps with a blue hose are the newer post-2004 style with foam seals that need no grease; clean the barrel once or twice a year. Pumps with a green hose are the older pre-2004 style with a rubber O-ring that needs marine grease. Order the hose and O-ring that match, in 4 inch or 6 inch.

Shop Carlson

Carlson hand pumps inflate only; they do not deflate. A drop-stitch raft floor needs a high-pressure pump. Compare pumps.

Carlson FAQ

  • Should I get the 4 inch or the 6 inch Carlson pump?

The 6 inch pump moves about 2 gallons (8 liters) per stroke, so it fills big rafts faster. The 4 inch moves about 0.9 gallon (3.5 liters) per stroke in a smaller pump. Both have a 7 ft non-kink hose and a foam seal that needs no grease.

  • How do I tell if my Carlson pump is old or new style?

Look at the hose. A blue hose means a newer post-2004 pump with foam seals. A green hose means an older pre-2004 pump with a rubber O-ring. Order the hose and O-ring that match your pump.

  • Does a Carlson pump need grease?

Newer pumps with a blue hose use a foam O-ring that does not need grease; just clean the barrel once or twice a year. Older pumps with a green hose use a rubber O-ring that should be greased with marine grease.

  • Can a Carlson pump be rebuilt?

Yes. Carlson hand pumps are fully rebuildable. Replacement hoses and O-rings in 4 inch and 6 inch sizes put a worn team pump back to full volume.

  • What is the warranty on Carlson pumps?

Carlson hand pumps carry a ten-year guarantee. The Public Safety Store is an authorized Carlson dealer, so if a pump has a problem, send us your order number and we'll help you with the claim.

  • Where can I buy Carlson?
