Princeton Tec

Princeton Tec Lights for Rescue Crews

Headlamps, helmet lights, strobes, spotlights and dive lights from a family-owned New Jersey light maker founded in 1975.

For swiftwater, dive and marine units

Lights That Work Wet

Princeton Tec started out making dive gear, and much of the line is built for water. The Sector 5, Sector 7 and League 420 are rated IPX8, the Meridian strobe is waterproof to 328 feet, and the Aqua Strobe and Eco Flare float so a dropped light is easier to recover.

Princeton Tec FAQ

  • Who makes Princeton Tec lights?

Princeton Tec was founded in 1975 by Bill Stephens. The company started with a dive timer and a waterproof dive light, and it is still owned and run by the Stephens family. Princeton Tec designs and builds its lights in New Jersey.

  • Which Princeton Tec headlamps are intrinsically safe?

Our listings show the EOS II, EOS II MPLS and Vizz II MPLS as intrinsically safe. The EOS II MPLS carries a UL Class 1, Div 1: Groups A, B, C and D rating. Check the rating on the product page against your own hazard class before you use a light in a hazardous location.

  • Can I mount a Princeton Tec light on a helmet?

Yes. The EOS II comes with a rubber strap that grips helmets and hard hats. The EOS II MPLS and Vizz II MPLS use the MPLS mounting system for helmets and MOLLE, and the Charge X helmet light fits a wide range of helmet and gear mounts.

  • Which Princeton Tec lights can go underwater?

The Sector 5, League 420, Eco Flare and Charge X are rated IPX8, and the Sector 5, League 420 and Eco Flare list submersion to 100 meters. The Meridian strobe is waterproof to 328 feet (100 m). Most of the headlamps are IPX7, and the Refuel is IPX4 for splashes and rain.

  • Which strobe should I put on my PFD?

The Meridian flashes white or red and comes with a hook-and-loop strap for a PFD shoulder strap or lash tab. The Aqua Strobe has a buoyant cone that keeps it pointed up. The Eco Flare is a small locator light with a steady white LED and a flashing red LED that runs over 500 hours on 2 AAA batteries.
