A compact aluminum pepper spray you hold and fire horizontally. The ASP Metro Defender D1 (ASP 54954) is a machined aluminum OC device with a micro-knurled grip, small enough to carry anywhere. Unlike a throwaway aerosol can, it uses a replaceable insert, so you keep the device and swap only the insert. One Heat insert is included. It is for officers, security staff and everyday carriers.

- Horizontal hold and fire: helps the spray go where it is meant to and supports the Defender Forward body position.
- Heat insert included: 10% OC with 1.4% major capsaicinoids, about six half-second bursts.
- Five foot range: about five feet, which can vary with conditions.
- Thumb-release safety: quick and intuitive, with an O-ring sealed dispersal port.
- Solid brass actuator: has a hole for attaching the unit to a key ring as an alternate way to carry.
- Replaceable insert: discard a used or date-expired insert and reload a new one.
Color and size
Choose a Color: Onyx, Cobalt, Crimson, Frost, Lilac. This is the D1 size with about six bursts; the D2 size is a separate listing. Inert Test Inserts are available for practice and function testing.
