Firefighter Hoods

A firefighter hood covers the head and neck gap between the helmet, SCBA mask and coat. This category holds our full range of Majestic hoods in one place: PAC IA, PAC II and PAC III hoods in Nomex, Nomex blend, P84, PBI and Ultra C6 fabrics; Halo, Halo 360 and Halo SPZ and FORTEX particulate hoods; PRO-X proximity hoods; Fire Ink designs, tie-dye and color hoods; plus the Veridian Viper Max particulate barrier hood.

How to choose

  • Standard: For structural firefighting, choose a hood listed as NFPA certified. Newer hoods may reference NFPA 1970-2025, which replaced NFPA 1971.
  • Particulate protection: Particulate hoods add a barrier layer to help block fine smoke particles at the neck and face.
  • Fabric: Nomex blends are common and economical; carbon, PBI and P84 blends are chosen for heat resistance and comfort.
  • Fit: Longer bibs and flared styles tuck deeper into the coat collar.

Check the individual listing. Design and color do not change the standard, but each hood lists its own certification.

How often should I wash my hood?

Wash after every fire exposure to remove contaminants, following the care label. Many firefighters keep a spare so one is always clean.
