Nightstick FAQ
-
Who makes Nightstick flashlights?
Nightstick lights are designed and manufactured by Bayco Products, Inc., which says its products are built in dedicated ISO 9001 certified factories with third-party quality inspections. Nightstick is best known for its Dual-Light design, a focused flashlight and a wide floodlight in one light.
-
What does intrinsically safe mean on a Nightstick light?
Nightstick's intrinsically safe lights are certified for use in hazardous locations where explosive gases and dust may be present. Each model lists its exact rating, such as Class I, Division 1, Groups A-D (gases and vapors) and Class II and III, Division 1, Groups E-G (dusts and fibers), plus Zone 0 ratings on many models. Match the rating on the light to the hazardous location you work in.
-
Which Nightstick lights are rated Class I, Division 1?
Nightstick lists the XPP-5418, XPP-5420, XPP-5422 and XPR-5522GMX flashlights, the INTRANT and INTRANT DUO TURBO angle lights, the VIRIBUS 80 and XPR-5586GX lanterns, the XPP-545x and XPR-5554G headlamps, the FORTEM XPP-5466R helmet light and the XPR-5592 scene light for Class I, Division 1, Groups A-D. Yes, but only for Division 2. Nightstick rates the INTEGRITAS 82 (XPR-5582) for Class I, Division 2, Groups A-D and Class II and III, Division 2, Groups F-G, not Division 1. If you need a Division 1 hand light, look at the VIRIBUS 80 or the INTRANT angle lights.
-
Are Nightstick helmet lights intrinsically safe?
Some are. The FORTEM XPP-5466R and the XPP-5418 helmet light kits are listed for Class I, Division 1. The NSP-4650B FORTEM, the NSP-4640B FORGE and the FDL-300R-K01 are not intrinsically safe. Nightstick helmet mounts fit the brim on either side of most fire helmets and hard hats.
-
Do Nightstick lights meet NFPA standards?
Nightstick states that many of its fire lights meet the requirements of NFPA 1971-8.6 (it cites the 2013 or 2018 edition, depending on the model), including the INTRANT angle lights, the VIRIBUS 80, the INTEGRITAS 82 and the FORTEM and FORGE helmet lights. The XPP-5418 meets NFPA 1970-8.6 (2025). Nightstick lists these as meeting a section of the standard; check each light's spec before you buy.
-
