Handcuffs & Restraints

Handcuffs & Restraints

This category covers restraints for patrol, corrections and transport. It includes chain, hinge and rigid handcuffs, oversize and extended-link cuffs for larger subjects, leg irons, waist chains and transport belts, disposable tri-fold restraints with cutters, and training cuffs. Handcuff cases and spare keys are here too.

How to choose

  • Style: Chain cuffs are compact and flexible. Hinge cuffs limit wrist movement. Rigid cuffs give the most control.
  • Material: Aluminum-bow cuffs cut weight; steel-bow cuffs add strength and mass.
  • Size: Choose oversize or extended-link cuffs for large wrists or subjects who cannot bring their hands close together.
  • Transport: Waist chains, belly belts and leg irons secure subjects during long moves. Tri-fold restraints are useful for mass arrests.
  • Training: Training cuffs let you practice without wearing out duty cuffs.

Handcuff FAQ

What does double lock mean?

Double locking sets the pawl so the cuff cannot tighten further after it is applied, which protects the subject and prevents tampering.

Should I choose chain or hinge cuffs?

Chain cuffs fit more cases and are faster to apply. Hinge cuffs restrict movement more. Many agencies specify one type, so check your policy.
