ASP Defenders are held and fired horizontally, like a flashlight. The Metro (aluminum) and Sport (polymer) Defenders use a replaceable insert, so you swap the insert, not the whole unit. A D1 holds about six half-second bursts and a D2 about twelve, with about a five-foot range. Inert Test inserts let you practice. Defender LE canisters come in MK-3, MK-4 and MK-9 sizes in stream, gel or fog, with UV dye and matching inert trainers.
