Station Wear for Fire & EMS

Station wear has to look sharp at lineup and still work when the tones drop. First Tactical's Cotton Station Pants are 100% cotton in Midnight Navy, cut for men and women. Medics get the V2 EMS Pant in stretch micro ripstop with internal knee pad access. Top it off with the 100% cotton polo or a Tactix cotton tee.

More sizing tips

  • Men's pants and shorts are sized by body waist in inches: a 34 fits a 34" waist. Pick a 30 to 36 inch inseam or unhemmed. Shop men's pants
  • Unhemmed V2 pants do not include the internal knee pad access. Choose a hemmed length if you wear knee pads.
  • Men's tops and jackets go by chest: Medium fits a 38–40" chest, Large 42–44", XL 46–48". Tall adds 2" to body length.
  • First Tactical women's pants are a mid rise, cut for uniform work rather than fashion.

  • What is First Tactical?

    First Tactical makes uniform and tactical apparel, boots and bags for law enforcement, fire and EMS. The company says it works side by side with first responders to design its gear, and its tagline is "Better Prepared to Respond." The line runs from V2 and A2 pants to station wear, Tactix outerwear, AERO-TAC™ boots and Specialist packs.

  • Is First Tactical station wear NFPA certified or flame resistant?

    No. First Tactical does not list NFPA 1975 certification or flame resistance for its station pants, polos or tees. Its FAQ says the 100% cotton pieces, such as the Tactix cotton tees and cotton polos, will not melt or drip. The V2 EMS and other poly/cotton pants are not 100% cotton.

  • How does First Tactical sizing run?

    First Tactical says its sizing runs true to size and its charts use body measurements. Men's pants are sized by body waist in inches, women's pants run from 0 to 28 by natural waist and hip with a mid rise, and if you fall between sizes First Tactical recommends sizing up. Tall tops add length in the body and sleeves.

  • What is the difference between the V2 Tactical, A2 and Defender pants?

    The V2 Tactical is First Tactical's best seller, a 65/35 poly/cotton micro ripstop cargo pant with 2-way stretch. The A2 uses a 67/33 micro-canvas with oversized utility pockets, zippered cargos and a clip garage. The Defender is a 55% cotton / 45% Cordura® nylon pant with 28 pockets and a double-layer knee pad pocket, built for warm weather.

  • Which First Tactical pants are best for EMS?

    The V2 EMS Pant is built for medics: 6.4 oz poly/cotton micro ripstop with 2-way mechanical stretch, a DWR water and stain repellent finish and internal knee pad access. It comes in men's and women's cuts, with women's sizes up to 28. Crews who want all cotton choose the Cotton Station Pant.

  • Are First Tactical AERO-TAC boots safety toe or waterproof?

    Both options exist. AERO-TAC™ comes in 8 inch and 5 inch side-zip styles and a 3 inch low, with H₂O versions that use a HydroGuard® waterproof bootie and safety toe versions with a metal-free nylon and fiberglass toe. First Tactical lists the 8 inch model at 15.5 oz and rates the outsole's slip resistance as exceeding ASTM F3445-21.

    First Tactical's listings do not state an ASTM F2413 rating for the safety toe, and these are duty boots, not structural firefighting boots.

  • Are First Tactical jackets waterproof?

    Some are. The Tactix shells and 3-in-1 System parkas and jackets are waterproof, breathable and fully seam sealed, and First Tactical says the shell fabric passes ASTM F1671 bloodborne pathogen testing. The Monsoon Parka is 10K/10K waterproof and breathable, and the Hi-Vis Parka Outer Shell meets ANSI/ISEA 107-2010. The Tactix softshells are water and wind resistant, and the Storm Surge™ and Pack-It jackets are water repellent only.
