Description:
TD30: Tuned and Dressed. It Means Something.
Most halligan bars come out of the box needing work. The forks are too thick. There are no set marks. The geometry is rough. Experienced firefighters know the drill — you spend the first few hours with a new bar on a grinder getting it to where it should've shipped from the factory.
The Council Tool TD30 ships ready. TD stands for Tuned and Dressed — the forks are already thinned for efficient wedging, the gap and set marks are in place, the adze geometry is dialed. You open the box and you go to work. That's not marketing copy, that's the difference between a halligan made for a catalog and one designed with actual forcible entry instructors at the table.
Why the TD30 Works
This is a single-piece, drop-forged tool made from 4140 alloy steel — the same high-carbon tool steel used across the industry's best forged bars. There are no welds, no pins, no cast components, no weak points. Working ends are heat treated for maximum strength and wear resistance.
The adze features a 2" wide offset with a 30" radial arc — that arc matters. As you drive the adze into a gap, the arc guides the blade while the fork tips anchor against the door plane. Squared-off fork shoulders give you a solid striking surface when you're marrying it with a flathead axe. The flat target zone on the adze head means your partner can drive it cleanly without deflection.
The gap between the fork ends handles key-in-knob bored lock pulls. The ramp-stop on the fork body prevents over-insertion when striking. Every feature has a reason.

The Irons
A halligan works best married to a flathead axe. Check our Forcible Entry Flathead Fire Axe if you're building out a set. The TD30's adze head is designed with a flat target zone specifically for this pairing.
